What I have is the xenon hyperwhite replacement bulbs, not an hid kit.

But they do flicker every now and then which is why I asked.

Would the same capacitor work if I just placed it directly into the bulb socket?

Those are not HID's, they're just cheap painted bulbs, HID flicker will act like a strobe light, if your 55w bulbs flicker once in a while, use quality bulbs, like sylvania ST's!
