hey everyone. i hoping someone much more knowledgeable than me can help out. here's my dilemma:
my halo install has been going great so far. got the headlights apart without too much trouble. decided to paint the housings while the headlights were apart (never painted before) and that went great. looks awesome. installed the rings. went great. tested them before sealing and everything worked perfectly on both sets of lights. then went and sealed the first light and ran out of time before i could seal the second. then when i came home, i found that the large halo on both lights had snapped. they were fine when i left. i have absolutely no idea how it happened.
so i got the one headlight back apart again without any trouble (the silicone hadn't hardened yet). but now, i can't figure out how to get the ring off. that epoxy is holding waaaaay too well.
sooo, how can i get the rings off the epoxy without killing my wonderfully painted housings? any suggestions?
well, i checked with aac when i ordered my new rings and they suggested that they should just pop off and that because i had clear coated the paint that i should be fine. not quite. they did pretty much pop off, but they did bring some paint with them. not too much though. easily fixed with a little touch up paint and the knowledge that the rings will mount over that spot too. tried to just slice it off, but the knife just pushed the epoxy right off. hopefully i won't have this problem again.
