Door speaker size question

I am getting ready to replace the entire audio set up in the car. I know the door speakers in the door are 6.5 and the rears are 6x9. I have read conflicting info on the door speakers. Does anyone know definitively if you need to use "shallow mount" 6.5 or will regular 6.5 speakers fit without mods being done?

I used "regular" 6.5 components on my front doors without any modification. You should fine!

Well it depends on what audio system your car came with from the factory. If its the $ speaker system then your front door speakers should be 6x9. I have an 07 SXT with the 4 speaker system and I replaced my factory 6x9 front speakers with aftermarket 3 ways.

Do a search on the audio forum and you will find alot of info on speakers

never heard issues with 6.5s there might be a few rare couple that dont sit in. At the worst all you would need to do would buy a floater ring or float them with a wood ring.

The only real issue i have heard was with 6x9s in the rear and once again its one of those hit / miss / live it type thing

I use componets front side speakers , back using 6x9 2 ways. If you have the money add another pair of compnets for the back side doors for the ultimate sound.
