Help! i've been up really late trying to figure this one out.

Ok. Here's the deal. I just went out and purchased a Kenwood DDX-712 Double din for my baby. It was the last piece of the puzzle, i had the amps, subs, and component speakers from a previous car but i needed the head unit. So the install went alright for the most part, i started by running power to the amp's then all the pre-outs up to the head unit. then from there i connected speakers to the amps, and made sure that they all worked as i moved along it was going really good, everything worked great until i tried started connecting the subs. They didn't want to work, so i started going over all my connections, they were good. so then i switched the sub pre-out with the front speaker one to see if it was the cable. it wasn't so i switched them back and then.... disaster.

all of a sudden there was this almost "digital" whine. It was as if a computer was trying to sing or something, i've never heard anything like it. Heres the thing, there was what i thought sounded like a little bit of alternator whine, but the origional "sound" still took front and center, it doesn't really change pitch, and it doesn't get louder or softer with the volume. And It Goes away when i switch the amp to the Low Pass from High pass or off. I'm hoping that it is a ground issue that will be somewhat easy to fix. I guess my question is what is the best/most succesful place to ground the amps, and why is it only the front speakers that are doing it. And has anyone else expirienced this problem. It's quite frustrating at 3:45am

i do believe that if your running your power lines and speaker lines near each other that would cause the whine sound also. if thats the caes try the best you can to seperate the lines/wires

"I don't care who you are thats funny right there"

Two pairs of rockford fosgate dual twisted patch cables running down the drivers side did the trick. I first used some brand x patch cables because I never had whine problems in older cars before. But then older cars dont have too much signal wires running all the way to the back like our magnums.

Ditched the cheapos and dropped about 25 bucks each on 20 feet of dual twisted patch cables from rf.

I also twisted the slack around each other and zip tied it. The whine is 100% gone in my system.

Hope this helps anybody.
