Dual Din HeadUnit with Aux Input?

Howdy folks!

I was wondering 2 things about the stock audio in my 05' RT. It has the Boston system in it with the Nav. I wanted to upgrade to a touch screen Nav, but I wanted one that had an Aux In so I could use my MP3 player.

Two Questions:

1.) My brother says I'd have to rewire the entire car because no after market head unit will work with my stock speakers. True or False?

2.) What model after market unit has an AUx Input? I looked up the Pioneer AVIC Z1 that folks have been talking about, but I think that unit is IPOD specific. I'm looking for a generic AUX in cuz I have an mp3 player on my phone that I'd like to use.

I'm a computer guy, not an audio guy... so any help/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance folks!

I can answer one of your questions for you. I have an 06 RT w/ the bston system minus nav, but I just installed a double din kenwood in dash dvd player that is connected to my factory speakers and amp. Metra makes a harness that basically only requires you to connect about 4 wires and hook up your rca inputs for front and rear. The harness is a breeze to connect. The part number is CHTO-01. Circuit City has it on their web page for 99.99. Crutchfield has it for I think 129.99. You can find them if you look for about 79.99, but I have a circuit city card and like the reward points. I hope this at least gives you the info that it is possible, you just have to decide on what head unit you want.

SWEET! Do you have the model # of the kenwood you bought? I'm assuming it doesn't have a Aux In for an MP3 Player?

The CHTO-01 harness will work with any after market I choose?

Thanks for the reply.

I have a 2-3 year old kenwood ddx7015, great head unit though. They have newer versions of what I have w/ nicer interfaces. The kit will work w/ any head unit. Your head unit will come w/ a harness and the metra kit has one end you wire up to the head unit harness, 2-3 wires plus the rca plugs, and the other end is where the factory harness plugs in. Takes about 10-15 minutes to wire and install. The metra double din dash kit is #99-6510 if you need it.
