I'm really interested in seeing this when it is done. Im a big fan man myself...but in my computer.
![]() I have about 4-5 computer fans sitting here at my house just waiting for a home to go to. When i build my custom sub box i was going to incorporate fans into the build. A few to bring cool air in and a few to bring hot air out. My only problem would be if its ok to use computer fans on the system and how to wire them up. The voltage may be different and all. Also they are small and can be hidden very easily which is a good thing. Last edited by ControlledChaos; 10-18-2007 at 12:59 PM.. Reason: bad spelling durrrr. :) |

Here is my current setup. ![]() Only during a competetion did the amps get a high heat display. Usually with moderate volume I run 118f. During "good" hehe, levels temp is usually around 130f. During the comp it hit 150f. Didnt shut down luckily, that would have been emabarassing the comp judging. The plexi gets quite warm and kinda radates some of the heat. After the comp I went to this setup. A steel grating inplace of the pleix. ![]() I had installed 2 fans before in a push pull setup. The fans were mounted directly to the amp cover lid would act like a drum skin and amp the fum/vibrations of the fans and drive me nuts. I went to a 1 fan setup and it helped but I could still hear it. I never got around to mounting the fans with foam or something to insolate the fans from the lid. You can always go to wally mart or Radio Shack and get an indoor/outdoor electonic thermometer and remote the outdoor sensor next to the amp(s) and get a reading. Then look in the owner's manual and see what the operating temps are in the specs. If it's not getting more than 75% of the range, I wouldnt worry about it. |

Yea but if I can get fans to work in the box with no problems with sound and other things that may occure why not add them in? Theres no harm in being a little different is there?
