Does anyone use a back up (rear view) camera? I'm ready to set up my video and need opinions on these cameras.... I see TONS on ebay but the prices range from super cheap ($20) to super expensive ($200). Some are mounted using a whole like a key hole (which the rear of our magnums dont have) or are part of a license plate frame. I like the license plate option but would that be easy to steal? Looking for something sleak and subliminal......any help is much appreciated!!
I am running a Farenheit license plate rear view cam. If someone wanted it they could easily take it, but would have to cut the wires and the inverter box is mounted inside. My only complaint is my plate cam is too low and has no adjustablity. One of these days I am going to try to modify it.
thanks Steve...I just went out and looked at the back and thought of maybe mounting one of the "keyhole" types in the spoiler, like under the brake light. Maybe then it would point down at an angle and give a better view?
I saw one guy that had one of these cameras hooked up under his front bumper pointing down, so when he was pulling up to a cement curb or one of those things in the parking lot he could stop before it hit his ground effect stuff.
I have the pioneer backup camera.
It's great! Granted I haven't had anything to compare it to but it is extremely clear and has a wide range of view.
They had to drill into the rear bumper above the plate.
I had an idea for a camera placement, but I'm not sure it would work. On the rear window there is a strip at the bottom that is blacked out. I thought of removing either a spot or all of it and respraying it with nightshade. On the inside, the strip is covered by a panel, so mount it there. Not visible from inside or out, and a higher viewing point for better visibility. I hope this makes some sense. I don't have a nav system, but I thought of I ever got one, I would try this.
If your in the state of CA I have seen the cameras flush mounted in the "o" in the middle of Calif o rnia. It looks super clean but I heard the cops don't like it too much lol. I am getting one of those pretty soon hopefully.
