Finally bumpin' again...
I havent been on this forum for awhile but this is what I have been up to...
I went and got me a cheap premade box just to see how my new 15s sound. I have to say that this is the loudest sub combo that i have ever heard. It is pure ear sex. I plan on eventually getting a two tone fiberglass box with an amp rack but the Summit Racing car show was yesterday so I had to get something quick. I had one Kinetik HC1800 at first but the dimming was soooo bad so I had to get another one and that still is not near enough batteries. I quickly wired it with 0 gauge wire and that is why it looks so bad with all the wires out and such. The stock battery has to go also for a HC2000 because that thing is useless at 700 cold cranking amps. This premade box BARELY fits in the Magnum just in case you all are thinking about getting 2 15s in your car. I had to sit on this box and nearly pry the sides to get this box it. It was difficult but anything can be done! Even in this junk box, it is hitting at least 150 dB which is just crazy since you dont usually get anything outta a box like that. The box was made with 1 in MDF which is OK but good boxes should have 2 layers or 3/4 in MDF to be safe. It was a last minute thing so please dont make fun of the premade box! I took my car to the Summit show here in Tallmadge, Ohio and got basically got kicked out for playing my subs there because people on the other side of the store were complaining. I aint lying when I say these are loud Also, the amp is turned up halfway so Im sure that these can get twice as loud but the HU is giving a bad signal to the amp so it cuts out at 23 on the volume. ***Stock HUs do not work well with high powered systems so if you plan on getting one, get a good HU before anything*** These subs dont even get warm even if I am feeding them 2000 RMS a piece so its time to get new amps for the 5200s. I will eventually be selling my Hifonics XX-Colossus so if you want it then it will be available soon. I fired the subs up so that the hatch wont rattle much but it still rattles toooooo much... Finally here are some pics of the quick install that was done. I am open to any questions that you have so ask whatever you want! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

My rear view mirror actually completely broke off today so I gotta find another one now. The spoiler is coming loose now so I gotta either wait for the new spoilers coming out or find a way to keep it on. I enjoy bass and a lot of it...

What's up magnumrt05 I see you are doing "Big Things" or should a I say "Loud Things" since you have been gone. Are you planning on entering any Bass competitions? If you do let us know how you placed. (I hope 1st).

Takes me back to my high school days when I had a Suzuki Swift GT(fancy, more powerful Geo Metro) With 2 15" and a big (and cheap) Pyramid amp. Loud, but not good sound quality. Mine didn't even have carpet on it. Your box looks 10 times better than mine did 17yrs ago. Wow, that makes me feel old that I graduated 17 yrs ago. Sorry, got off subject there. Bet it's loud!

The subs are TC-5200s. They are quad 1 ohm and rated at 2000 RMS 6000 max but that is underrated. I am throwing 2000 RMS at them and they aint even moving but they take 4000 RMS daily so I am looking for amps in that range. Never get a quad coil sub because it is a pain to wire and there are too many way to wire them so stick to duals. And the amp situation will eventually be handled with either another Colossus or 2 XX-Cyclops. Not really a fan of Cadence but to each his own.
Maybe I will enter competitions once I get a decent box and 2 4000 RMS mono amps, but until then I just gotta be happy with what I have. As for the wiring situation, I will be building covers for the side pockets so that you will not be able to see wires or batteries. I need the spare tire room for air suspension down the road. Lastly, I hope to get it metered this week so I can show that even with a cheap premade box, you can hit 150+ dB ![]() Last edited by MagnumRT05; 06-18-2007 at 10:52 PM.. |
