Pioneer AVIC-D3X
What up,
First of all, I want to introduce myself for I am new to forum. Incase anybody cares I am a proud owner of a 2007 Mag STX. Anyways, I just purchased the above navigation system at a really good price of $799 and a $200 rebate (Free overnight shipping too!) and I'm wondering of what accessories I am in need of to complete the instalation. I already prepared myself and bought the navigation bezel, but what else would I need? Adapters, mounting/din kit? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

I just put one in are 2008 magnum.
It was a pain. You will need a canbus wiring harness - for the acc power ect.. Radio Wire Harness Dodge Magnum 05 2005 CANBUS w/ NAV - eBay (item 190141250442 end time Apr-10-08 16:44:51 PDT) They dont make one for a 2008 so I had to hard wire it and used a by pass for the the parking safety and such -http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4670 as for the mounting - I had to make some brackets and fill in the spaces on the side with some abs plastic. Also I put the gps antenna under the dash, on top of ac vents and it works great!!! Last edited by 191145acp; 03-22-2008 at 07:46 PM.. |

Hello there and welcome to CustomMagnums!!!
For the D3 I suggest you call your local stereo shop to get all the RIGHT parts that you'll need. There are basically 2 wiring harnesses. One for Mags with all the options (R/T's generally) and a harness for those of us that had the 6disc changer and tape deck, OEM (SXT, SE). I have an SXT as well and they (BestBuy) used the harness for Mags that didn't start out with the Boston Acoustics stereo. Basically, the BA system has an amplifier and thus requires a different and more expensive harness (about $80-$90). Mine cost $15 dollars because I didn't have an amp. As for the doulble-din navigation bezel, you are halfway there. You still need a double-din installation kit ($20) to fill in the gap between the bezel and the radio. It also firmly holds the radio in place. |

Thanks for all the replies, most of you must of been on vacation when I posted this last thursday LOL!
I got this from ebay, I believe the guys name is soundfactorypro if anybody cares. The thing that confuses me is that I dont know if my magnum has an amplifier (07 STX). I have good sound in there but I have no clue if it has one or where to look. Do I need the antena adapter too? I think I do, but I dont want to buy it if I dont need it. Thanks |

I learned all this the hard way - The place I ordered from gave me all 2007 stuff. It is all different in the 2008 magnums. I returned the harness but I got the antenna adapter for free with the D3. I will ship it to you for free if you want it. I much rather somebody have it that can use it , instead of it sitting in are garage for ever.
As long as you get the right parts it would be really easy to install. I have read Best buy is not cheap for installs. Plus I really don't want somebody I don't know working in / on my car - I have heard about to much b.s. go on in some places. |
