Got Nav? AVIC-D3X installed!

Working on the theory that it is easier to get forgiveness than permission I purchased a Pioneer AVIC-D3X from Crutchfield. It came with the bluetooth module and the IPOD adapter. The installation was so easy I could hardly believe it, of course I'm out of paint so I'm stuck with the black bezel until later on. Thanks to all those who went before me with this install for the inspiration!

Thanks y'all I had to endure the wrath of Mrs.MadDad but it was worth it.... plus I got on sale and saved all the install money so.......

I don't have a bluetooth phone so I didn't hook up the module. I'm sure some of the other folks who have the unit can give you a review. The module is sitting in the garage until I upgrade phones then I'll think about hooking it up.

It works just like the other touchscreen units I've seen. I did install the "bypass" to let me change routes etc. while in motion (although I don't recommend it -- I tried it while I was in the neighborhood and it's just too distracting). You just "type" in the address on the touchscreen and once the GPS figures out where you are it displays the route. This is a DVD based system like the stock NAV but you can take out the NAV DVD and it will work off memory.

man where did you get that grip?

Ive seen that Shifter knob a few palces but never knew where to buy one. help me out I really want one!!!!
also good work on the pioneer. Ive been lookin at the same one...just out of my price range at the moment

I was looking at that same model frys has them for 699 after rebate.

Hey MadDad, that looks good!!! And I know what you mean about being it being distracin with the bypass. I just let my wife do all the playing going down the road. Also your gonna love the Bluetooth, I know I love mine!!

Mrs.MadDad usually is either asleep or in the back watching the "big" flipdown I won't be using the "bypass" for anything but NAV changes.
