Audio advice
I am very green to car audio and would like some advice. I have a 2006 Dodge Magnum RT with the 6 speaker BC stock system and single CD player HU. I plan on buying a sub enclosure from AoN. I listen do pretty much everything but rap and hip hop. I don't want anything to make my ears bleed, just something to have some fun with.
What I need: -one subwoofer, I was thinking 10", Had looked at the 10W3v3 and Dayton10" any thoughts on these two? other recommendations? -an amp to power the sub, really have no idea other than I was told 300w RMS is probably plenty for what I want. I plan on just tapping into one of the rear speaker wires to run the sub for now, this will work right? How is this going to sound compared to running a direct line from a HU with a subwoofer output? Later on I might add an after market ipod ready HU, mainly so I don't have wires running all over the place. I appreciate your input, Cory |

IMO I would go with the JL, but either one will do enough! The RMS for that particular JL is between 100 and 500 watts, so 300 would do enough especially if you don't want a lot of pounding! The headunit alone will not provide enough power for the sub, the amp is necessary for the sub.

You'll need a dedicated low level input (RCA's)to the sub amp and you should buy an amp with a built in crossover for a sub. Then run a speaker wire from the amp to your sub. You could also buy an amp the has line level inputs if you don't want to buy a new head unit. Definitely the JL's. I had 12 10WO's in my Mustang years ago and it pounded!!!

the only difference in tapping into the rear speaker wire is that you don't really have full control of the subwoofer from the radio. IE.. you turn up the bass, it turns it up for every speaker, not just the sub.. you can adjust the bass level on the radio lower and set the amp and subwoofer and it will be just fine. From what you are wanting to listen too and your preference. taping into the rear speakers will work just fine.. This is the setup i have always ran. Hope that makes since..

^^^^ thats a yes and no if you get a nice Jl 250/1 and buy the optional bass knob you can contol the level from up front they work great
CPMRT - the JL Sub will be perfect and I would Suggest the 250/1 amp to run it, they were pretty much made for each other. on a side not they have input sensing so you dont need a remote turn on. just remember most LOC (Line Output Converters) have a left and right input and so does your amp make sure you have a signal to both inputs for best results |

Definately go with the JL Audio. they make a real solid enclosure for the 10w3v3 and an audio shop can hide all your wires. id also suggest the 450/4 amp to power both your sub and your front and rear speakers to get the most sound all around so you dont drown in bass and get some real nice highs too. I had the JL Audio set up in my old dodge pick up and nothing on the road sounded half as good as that truck did
