Dvd Overhead Install Help.......
I want to install a flip down unit in my 05 r/t but I think I will run into a problem with the sun roof. Has anyone installed a flip down unit with a sun roof and was it a hard process?

MDF works wonders and will fit. I just found out that there are 2 tracks that the window slides on and that a piece of MDF can be glued in place then you screw your dvd/tv to that. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

Sounds like a plan@! it should work if you make some measurements and take your time@! I also have the sunroof in an 05 R/T, but i think i may go with the headrest deal... just so i don't block the rearview...

I don't have a sunroof so I didn't post --- I have 10" Alpine flip down DVD player that I put in. It doesn't block my rear view too badly. I used some stock aluminum bars run between the bracing to mount mine. Here's some pictures

I have a sunroof AND the 10.2" flip-down monitor with the built in DVD player BUT I didn't install it myself, BestBuy did.
![]() With the sunroof in a Mag you have the sliding sun shade that slides into the hadliner. Well that part of the headliner that comes down enough to allow the shade to slide in is low enough and strong enough to allow you to connect the over head unit right there! You can also run the wires with no problems as well. This is an old pic before I added a double-din NAV unit to the dash but when I did that, there were even MORE wires that had to run to the overhead unit. All those wires basically run straight across the inside of the headliner to the B-pillar on the PASSENGER side, along the upper part of the door sill and down the A-pillar. Or, the wires can go down the B-pillar to the bottom of the door sill and along the scuff plate under the carpeting. |
