HELP! A couple questions about odd tire ware

I don't hear any bumping or odd noises coming from the front end. Everything seems tight when I turn, but when I go straight down the road, the car will wander or pull to either side when it runs over "ruts" in the road from heavy trucks, etc.. I looked at the tires and noticed that the very inner most part of both front tires are warn excessively. I have put about 20,000 plus miles on it since I bought it used, but the tires were new when I bought it. I was going to do a rotation at before 10,000, but at about 8 I had to plug the tire, and nobody would do it, and I had no where to do it at myself. Well, I just did the rotation because the erratic steering was getting so bad and it helped alot. But I don't think that was the problem.

I have had warn front ends on other cars but usually you can tell what is causing it, and hear it or even feel it. When I am going straight down the road and turn the wheel from side to side , the steering it tight, no play. I am sure it will re-occur.

When I had the wheels off, I even checked the tie rod ends and the ball joints and didn't find them to be loose or warn, but I am no expert there. I just know with my trucks it was very obvious....

My question: What would cause this? Is it just that maybe I need an alignment and the camber is off, riding on the inside of the tires?

    HELP!!!!

That could be it. Do you have stock wheels on your car? Maybe excessive offset could cause the steering to be effected by the road conditions.

When was the last time the car had an alignment? How many miles on it?

definately sounds alignment related..as in the front tires are toes out..so its scrubbing the inside of the tires..

    Thank You Hazman

There is a TSB for early model Magnums, some 05's and some 06's having steering sensativity problems, drifting right, especially on mild to moderately crowned roads even know the alignment is dead nutz.

Here you go...it's called the cradle shift. I plan to have mine done this fall. I'm only going to have 25k miles on my set of tire, which all ready need replacing and I'm going to have the cradle shift/alignment done right after I put some new skins on.

    Cradle Shift TSB.
Perf: Magnaflow catback, JBA Cats, Edelbrock Headers, AFE Stg II CAI, 180* T-stat, Tuned by Johan, SLP 25% UDP, BT 85mm Throttle Body & Catch Can

That sounds spot on! Thank you, mine is a early one, 2005, so I am betting that is what it is. It does seem to pull more to the right, but depends on the crown and what side..... I need new tires, I will have this taken care of when I get new ones..... THANK YOU
