    Looking for a AWD R/T............

I'm in St Louis and looking to get a Maggie AWD R/T the next month or so. I know they are hard to find but I'm willing to travel to pick up the new addition. My question is I hear A LOT about front end issues with LX vehicles in "general". Are Maggies any more prone to this or do you guys just deal with having to replace certain parts (tire rods etc) more than the average driver?

I haven't had any issues with my suspension on my 05 AWD R/T -- seems like it's one of those issues that plagues some cars and not others in the same lineup.
Just an FYI -- there's an '08 AWD R/T in the LXF F/S section

AWD are not all together much different from RWD with respect to common problems. Things to look for on an AWD:
    1. Front lower control arm bushings, they wear out around 60k miles.
    2. Inner and outer tie rod ends, very common.
    3. Transfer case shudder on low speed, cold engine temp, full circle type of turn (only on 2005 year model). Problem is due to a friction plate in the transfer case. 2006+ do not have this problem.
    4. Check for transmission fluid leak, common that the o-ring leaks on the sensor that plugs in on the side of the tranny.
    5. Check for uneven tire wear. These LX cars get even a little out of alignment, they eat tires right up.

Overall my 05 has been awesome since I got all my front suspension parts installed and corrected. Before that I had the clunky front end blues.

    Good luck on your search!

If you can find an 08 AWD, that year has different design glares to it and can come with the touchscreen MyGIG NAV radio, which is sweet!

clearly did you acually have this problem with your 05?

look in the awd section i posted a question on the problem im having with my 05

    YouTube - ‪GOPR0016‬‏

theres the video link i have posted in my question. i have had the differential looked at and that wasnt the problem. since the maggies are so labor intensive to get to anything im trying to find strong possibilities before i go blowing money with no solution!

Check out Center Cars in Cedar Lake, Indiana. I just traded mine in. 06 R/T AWD. Oh yeah, she's from St. Louis too. If you're serious, contact me here. I'll let you know everything that was done since I had her. Three hours away, I make that trip to the Lou every year. You can look at my pics.

I`m waking up an old post

the front end of the AWD magnums is mercedes designed contrary to RWD dodge`s design

the RWD is plagued with consistent parts wear issues .......much more then the AWD .

I'm at 115,000km and only had to do tie rods so far. Front end is solid otherwise. I did inner and outer tie rods for $150 shipped to Canada from RockAuto.com, plus alignment after install.

If you buy a '05 AWD check to see if it has had the transfer case TSB done on it. And drive it in sharp parking lot speed turns to see if there is any shudder (sign that the TSB hasn't been done). Free fix if the car still has the powertrain warranty.

I`m at 150,000 kms yet have to change any parts ....

the awd gives better traction in winter conditions , and as I wrote previously , the steering linkage is designed by mercedes much sturdier then dod ge 2wd system ....

go fot it , for the looks, the performance and the awd ! ;-)
