Here are some words from our winner....
I would like to say thank you to the members of this forum for being awarded the great honor of custom magnum of the month. My love for Chrysler products goes back to a very young age. When I was growing up my dad was working as a mechanic at a Dodge dealership and campaigning a series of nitro powered dragsters and funny cars. As far back as I can remember most of my weekends were spent at various drag strips all over the country. In 1985 my dad retired from racing, the next year on my 16th birthday he bought me a 1967 Plymouth GTX and told me that we were going to turn it into a bracket car to race at the local tracks. I got a job at the local Dodge dealer working as a tech to get the money to buy better parts. We started racing it and spent all our time trying to make if faster, by the time I graduated high school we had it running in the high 9 second range and I was still able to drive it out to the local cruise nights and have tons of fun with it. Over the next 5 years I raced a couple of different cars and in 1991 I decided that it was time to make a move, I sold my bracket cars and started to build a pro mod/outlaw pro street car which I raced a couple of years until I just could not afford to run it anymore. I started working on a nostalgia top fuel car that my father-in-law owned doing the clutch and fuel system on it (we won the Good Guys championship in 2005) and I was having so much fun that I started to planning my come back to the sport I love with a nostalgia nitro funny car and decided that I needed a new car as a pit tow vehicle and thought a Magnum would be a perfect fit. In December 2006 I purchased my inferno red Magnum SRT8 and joined the forum as a member. Just one month later I attended my first meet & greet at a dyno day event where I met some great new friend and soon after that the modding started and has not stopped to this day. I spent 23 years of my life working in Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge dealerships starting on the lube rack and working my way up to assistant service manager until april of 2008 when I lost my job, so I thought that all the mods I was helping with on the weekends could make a nice little business for someone like me that loves working on these cars so I opened Shoe & Performance with the help of friends the a team alex (bigal470) and adam (1fastsedan). I am having the best time of my life right now playing with my car and spending time with people that have the same love for cars as I do. I must say that I feel very lucky to have met such a great group of friends. I would like to say thanks to all my forum friends and family for all the thing they have done for me over the last couple of years, if it was not for them my car would not be what it is today.
