Possible Tranny probs or is it just me
My mag has abt 5200 miles its an 06 yes i bought it new, i am having a problem with my tranny, when i put it in any gear somtimes there is a loud thumping sound especially when the car is on any type of hill. I have taken it back to the stealership abt 4 times each time they tell me they cant find anything wrong, has anybody experienced this ? is this normal? if not what can i do? 1 time i was coming around a gradual turn nothing hard or sharp and the esp light came on in the dash the car stop accelerating and started jerking just a lil bit, i was only doing abt 40-50mph,. I took the car back to the stealership the next day and they said they couldnt find anything

Please excuse me while I climb up on my soap box. I am going to take a wild guess here and assuem that you do not use your parking brake when you park your car. If you do use it, you are not using it in the proper sequence.
When you go to park your car (anytime, but especially when parking on an incline) follow this sequence: After coming to a complete stop, put the gear selector in Neutral. While still holding the main brake, engage the parking brake. Then, release the main brake. The car will roll about an inch or two until the weight of the car rests against the parking brake (not the transmission gears). Step on the main brake again and then shift into Park. When you leave from a parking spot, step on the main brake, shift into Drive, and then release the parking brake. The "thud" sound that you hear is the transmission disengaging gears (essentially 1st and reverse gears) with the weight of the car (nearly two tons for you, more than two tons for me) pressing against the teeth in the gears. You can probably assume just how bad that "thud" sound really is now that you know what is happening in there. This is not so much a problem on lighter cars, but the Magnum is a heavy car. Thus, the effect is amplified...as is the damage it does. |

As for the ESP light coming on and the car jerking...you lost traction momentarily. You likely have both the traction control and stability control. Basically, once you lost traction, the computer reduced the power output of the engine and started applying individual brakes as needed to keep you firmly planted to the road.
If you try to do a power slide sometime (I may have tried this a few times ) and forget to turn the ESP off, it will quickly spoil your fun and make you look like a dumba$$ who can't pull off a power slide. This can be somewhat embarassing, but it will hook up and shoot through the corner in a hurry! So, be ready. It's kind of an odd series of events as the brakes hit at multiple corners and the engine bogs before it surges again. |

This wasn't that type of situation, 1st off all i never use my emergency brake ever i dont think and this happens on an hill or a flat surface it doesn't really matter, 2nd when the esp light came on i was not even accelerating i mean i barely had my foot on the pedal until i noticed that it wasn't accelerating plus it was on a warm sunny day so i cant say that i sliding i was just going around a turn
