Weird my chart link didn't work, it worked on other forums, but not here, anyway you all have the info neccessary to check your own level, which is good because I had that trans leak at the plug twice, replaced the O-rings myself and I couldn't check the level, now I can.
I replaced the O-ring with the Mercedes Benz rings, they are more durable. Easy job to do, take 15 minutes. BTW: the BT covers and caps are just the covers, not the dipstick, even for the oil, you replace the top part and keep the original dipstick. I ordered almost all the covers and caps from BT 2 days ago (in red), I'll post pics when I have everything. Last edited by 05 MAG RT; 09-03-2007 at 05:33 AM.. |

FYI: I changed the trans fluid myself once along with the filter with it hit 50K, kind of a PITA to do because you need a jack (very high, had to use wood planks to raise the jack) to hold the engine/trans in order to remove the transmission crossmember to remove the pan and change the filter, I changed my O-rings while it drained.
You may want to have the dealer do it unless you like hard work and have time and have a dipstick (see link) BTW: changing the O-rings is very easy, any week end mechanic can figure it out, get the Mercedes O-rings (my new dodge dealer O-rings leaked again after 2 months), get the car up on ramps only on the passenger side (to avoid having too much fluid draining out), with a pair a large pliers, turn the plastic plug to remove the electrical plug, then with a I think 7mm socket, unscrew the bolt that hold the plug, pull the plug out, change out the O-rings on the plug after cleaning the plug well (fluid will drain, so get a bucket), put everything back, put the fluid back in and you're done, took me 10-15 minutes the second time I did it. Also, about the water getting in the transmission thru the dipstick tube is an easy fix, just need to apply a lot of silicone at the base of the dipstick.
