Painted Engine Cover, and one issue.....
Hey all,
After a very long delay, I finally got my engine cover back from my buddy. He likes to tinker with this kind of stuff and has had it since FEB. ![]() ![]() ![]() So other than my dirty as sin engine compartment, it is beautiful!! BUT, I've had a problem. I put it in, and left for the day. When I got home, it had part of the cover stuck to the black matting on the hood and screwed up the paint a little. I realized the cover was pressing up due to catch can hoses, so I'm changing those, but I need advise. Should I wet sand (1000 grit) the bad spots, and do you think I need to hit this with a hard clear coat? |

The cover looks sweet...If the cover was clear coated you should be able to to hit it with ScratchX or a similar product and be fix. If it wasn't cleared be very careful with your sanding, so you don't go through...
I removed the matting from my hood just for that same reason... |

Wow the cover looks great, as for your problem I can't really help you but it looks like you have some good advise already. As for pulling the mat I'd imagine it is pretty straight forward to do, its pretty much there to reduce engine noise (right? I'm not totally sure)
