reapplying moldings

What kind of tape would be best for this?

I always use the 3m Foam mounting tape for all kinds of heavy duty jobs, but I'm not sure if this would be too thick? Will it hold up in the weather (extreme heat here)? Is there some special tape I should order?

My paint on my doors is so damn messed up, I'm exploring my options from getting 1 door repainted (expensive) to getting it buffed (less expensive) to just throwing the molding back on and hoping I wont notice my failed attempt at paint repair (cheap).

Sigh, if only the guy that painted it when my mom got the door repaired hadn't done a half-assed job this wouldn't have been an issue....

I know that they make molding and emblem tape because I get it from my local Automotive Paint Supply place.

It is thinner than the 3M stuff that I see in Auto Parts stores.
It comes as small as 1/4" wide and very thin (don't know the measurement tho).

If worse comes to worse I can try and get you some here locally and send it to you. Let me know.

No need, just going to be putting the strips back on.

From looking at it with the molding held in place, the paint defects look about 10x better, I can probably live with it if I just stick em back on.

I would go make him fix his work, but I just drove the car 2800 miles away from where my mom had the body work done.

Molding tape arrived today. Still not sure if or when I'm putting it back on.
