Installing a new grille

I am new to customizing my Dodge Magnum. I recently purchased a new grille, but I am not sure how to remove the stock grille. Any suggestions?

Grill Install

First, what type of grill did you purchase?

You will need to remove the front fascia from your Mag. The first time it will take some time, I can do it now in under 15 minutes. There are the six push pins on the top, all the little 7mm and 2-10mm bolts on the lower panel, 3-push pins in each wheel well, 1-10mm bolt on each side that holds the rear tip of the fascia. You will need to drill out the 3-plastic rivets in the wheel well on each side and put in new push in clips. Once everything is loose, just give the fascia a good smack forward with your hand below the headlights and it should come right off. Tip: lay a piece of carpet or towels on the ground to protect the paint.

If you have fog lights be careful when you remove the fascia and remove the bulbs.

The grill itself removes from the fascia easily after it is removed from the car.

Thanks for the info

I purchased an E&G Grille. I noticed you pull the trim off the side of your Magnum. Is that a difficult process?

The E&G is a good grill, so the install should be pretty straight forward.

It is best to remove on a warm day, it will just come off easier. Give it a gentle pull and clean up with Go-Gone and a good wax job....

Side trim

Based on your response I assume the trim is just held on with adhesive?

What size push in clips did you get to replace the rivets and where did you get them? I'm going to install my grill next weekend and want to make sure I have all of the parts before starting it. Thanks.

Fair warning on removing trim panels!! It looks sweet, and some people get lucky, others very UNLUCKY. I was one of the latter. The tape came off no problem, but then the true story unfolded, BODYWORK, and paint blending, thus, and one of my trim pieces was taped off (LAZY BODY GUYS from some shitty shop) so now I have original color under where the trim used to be, and new color everywhere else, so a dark paint stripe that won't sand, buff, or wax out. Since it's used, and the carfax said nothing, it was an in-house job, to keep it off the books.

Now, for a simple mod to remove my trim to look a little cleaner, I'm either going to have to pay $500 to respray both passenger doors and blend them, or $2700 for a two tone all around, or $3700 for a complete color change. Unless I can scrounge up some new molding, or aftermarket type that will fit.

Just a word of caution, some people get lucky, some don't. Be very sure you want to remove it, and be careful doing so, in case you find something like that, put it right back on, and look the other way.

Just my two cents.

BUT WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!
Post some pics and whatnot. See ya around.
