People really dont get harrassed for them around here! Thank god! But down in Sarasota if you have your radio where a cop can hear it the can tow your car and fine you 1st offence!!! So i guess its where you live.
I had either the 10K or 12K HIDs and I kept getting tickets cus they were quite blue, now I got 6K and 8K fogs and I haven't been bothered. Just get em as white as possible and you're fine
The video could not be more correct. Nothing pi$$es me off more than a $200 ricer with $100 HIDs heading down the street at me. HID technology creates a more intence light source, but uses the existing halogen housing and reflectors... which does not focus the light properly (away from oncomming traffic and car in front of you). HIDs are usually installed in projector style lenses made for HID, properly focusing the light, not causing glare issues.
I'd like to hear AAC's view on this topic, and a few pics of thier HIDs producing light from an LX on a headlight calibration wall chart ... and compare it to a halogen.

HIDs are HIDs man, they're brighter then halogen by far! even in projectors they can still blind you but in normal housing they're more violent
I know in my Magnum the halogens have a nice cut line at the top of the beam, well below the mirrors of cars I'm passing ... with those pics Karlito, you're right, the light dispersment is violent from the stock Charger housings. That's more of the reason why people are being pulled over for HIDs. I'd like to see what it looks like from projector headlights (from evil-bay) mounted with HIDs.
9 outta 10 comps will NOT pull you over UNLESS the color is other then white with a very slight hint of blue. When you go nuts with really blue HIDs or Purple (a bunch around here) then be prepared for tickets, and that info comes from the officers I talk to almost everyday
My used Dodge Neon came with projector lights and HID's but who ever bought them before me, apparently bought the wrong size. On my low beam projectors, you cannot even drive at night, too dim! Apparently they knew this and readjusted the high beams lights to shine much lower and I run with hi beams all the time and don't have anyone flickering their lights at me to lower mine! ??????????????
