Any of you guys ever seen this before? Anyone know about the "legal-ness" of various HID kits? I'm guessing that the cheaper (< $100) kits fall under this "illegal" category. Not that I'm worried about being pulled over or anything, but I don't want all the light from the HIDs scattering about rather than being on the road... kinda defeats the purpose
Just looking for y'all's input!
From the sounds of it, it's not the kits that are doing a bad job, it's that the reflectors inside the stock headlights are not meant to handle the huge amounts of light produced by HID bulbs.
So, that said, do you all think that aftermarket projector lenses are up to the task?
I don't know if euro lighting standard are the same as here. I know a lot of the cheaper bulbs and kits say "for off road use only", implying there not legal. I'm guessing the ACC kits are legal, also why they cost more than Ebayers.
here in Cali everything is illegal these days, especially in Orange County
Hid's, window tint, lowered suspensions
cops are always harassing people with these kinda mods
Yeah I am not sure how applicable that is to America...the UK has some pretty steep standards for vehicle inspection...makes Cali look tame.
That may be, but still... look at the two cars next to each other at the beginning of the video. Honestly, the aftermarket lights look like sh**. Then later in the video, with the car coming down the road... just a big blur of lights... doesn't look focused at all.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying they werent right. Its even worse when the headlights are weathered like on their test car and the beam is even more scattered by that. I am sure my HIDs are illegal to. But my headlights are tinted so that makes it a bit better.
I think they're all illigal unless they came installed from the factory, and ACC are not legal just like the other ones on E-bay, that's why I always say to get them a white as possible (4300K) to not make it obvious to LE people when they drive by you.
