Could use some tips on cleaning products for my wheels. My wheels are black and machined. I heard there are some waxes that you can use to create a "layer" on the wheel to keep dust and debris from embedding into the wheel. Again any tips on cleaning and maintenance will be much appreciated.
sheila shine my man, its great I use it on my wheels all the time and it prevents brake dust build up
Can these products be purchased at Wal-mart or auto parts stores? Or do I have to special order them?
Also gomojo31, you said sheila shine. Is that a shining product alone, or how does it work exactly. Your on the right track of what I am looking for which is to prevent brake dust and any debris from building up or embedding into the wheel.
You can get the Teflon at walmart. Teflon is the stuff that doesn't let food stick to your pans and the treatment option for carpet to prevent stains and such
Good stuff. Here is what it looks like and what it is supposed to do:
"DuPont's Teflon Wheel Cleaner is the only wheel cleaner with Teflon surface protectors that make future cleanings easier. It's heavy duty dual-detergent formula quickly and effectively removes new road dirt and brake dust. The non-stick Teflon coating leaves an invisible protective barrier to help repel new dirt and road grime. Features: - Cleans tires too! - Safely and effectively cleans all wheels - contains no acids or harsh chemicals. - Self-cleaning foam eliminates scrubbing and repeated applications. - Safe on all wheel types and hubcaps - polished or anodized aluminum painted chrome clear coated wire mag plastic or gold-tone finishes. - Also removes bugs and sap from all painted plastic glass and chromed surfaces."
sheila shine is a cleaner but the consistency of it gives a beautiful shine, almost that "wet" look. I use it every nite in my restaurant's kitchen and trust me when I say, its been battle proven over and over. I get no smoke/grease/dirt build up on any of my stainless appliances and its just as good on the wheels I use it every week or so when I wash the car. Use a nice Meguiar's Wheel cleaner to get everything off and then use Sheila shine for deeper cleaning and shine. Then you can just "wipe" of all the dirt off of em for at leas 3-4weeks till you have to reapply, I'm happy with it
