Poor Man's Wiper shave
I just got a surplus of the plastic caps for the rear wiper hole (Needed one, had to order 100).
If anyone is interested in the cheap wiper shave, send me a PM with shipping information, and I'll send one of the caps out to you as soon as I can, as long as I still have some. Here is SoCalRT's Tech Article about how to remove the panel and get to the wiper motor assembly. And relocate the handle switch if your feeling ambitious. Rear Hatch Swith Relocation Mod For the wiper arm, simply tug on the cover, remove the bolt from the post. Spray some WD-40 on it, let it soak in, then give it a tap or two with a small hammer. I then used a pair of vice grips to tug the entire arm off. From the inside, remove the 3 nuts that hold the motor assembly on, and slide the entire thing off, then pull off the rubber wiper post seal. Clean up the edge around the hole, and your set to install the plug. If you like, you can leave it black, but I got some touch-up paint and colored mine. (However it isn't an exact match, but close) Remember that the plug is round, but the hole has a flat spot on the bottom. I fixed this by taking a razor blade and cutting the lip of the plug to fit in the odd shaped hole. And it's water tight, just got done presure washing the rear hatch and nothing got inside. Not a single leak. Last thing is use a zip tie and secure the loose wiper motor connection, and reinstall everything. Last edited by MagneZeeOOM; 04-23-2007 at 08:52 AM.. Reason: Adding Pictures |
