OK...I want to paint my brake calipers but I don't want to go red because most people have red. I REALLY like to be different and went through EVERY color I can think of. I am thinking of going a dark green-like forrest green. Has anyone ever seen this?? I also want to do my Dodge emblem and license plate frame the same color. I wish I knew how to do a photo-thing so I could really see how it would look. I have a few photo programs on my pc but not sure if they are capable of doing that. If anyone can help ( or is bored enough to help!) it would be appreciated!
I know most folks (and most brake paint "kits") choose red because those awesome brembo brakes are red...but I don't think there are any "rules". Whatever color you choose you may want to go with a "high heat" paint as those puppies get real hot (that may limit your choice)! I've seen bright (florescent) green before and I agree a dark green would look great against your silver Mag!
EASY KERMIT! Neon ANYTHING is a little too much for me! (I like your truck better black!)
Thanks HemiLover! That makes me feel more confident about my choice! So do I buy the paint in an auto store, or a paint store? My bosses husband is a painter (of houses, not autos) and I was hoping maybe he could get me a good quality paint for less $$
Sm, Just like waht Hemi said you want that High Heat paint. I seen them at Lowes and Walmart. But to find a dark green might be tough. Now this may sound silly, not sure if it will work, but possible mixing them. Maybe spraing a &*%$ load in a small bucket or something, that way you have enough.
PepBoys has a pretty good selection of high heat engine paint (about 10 or so colors) but mostly things like ford blue, chevy orange, red, etc...Home Depot also has high heat paint for bbq's and grills that would probably work. Varshaka has a great idea, especially since most brush the paint on rather than spray it - more control! Gotta work fast though 'cause spray paint dries much quicker! Good luck!
I 2-toned mine siver and red using testors model pens and it has held strong for over a year now, just another way to control the paint for your brakes

I had actually thought of mixing to get the color I want! I'm kinda surprised to hear that most brush it on, I thought spraying was the only way to go. I have alot to learn before I do this so I will continue to read about the how-to's. So far everything I have done to my car I have learned from this site so I will go through past threads on this subject. Thank You all for your help!!!
Yeha most def. this site has great How-To's and tons of info. Yeah i brushed mine on and it came out great. If you do get that brush on kit, get a very good brush. The brush that came with my kit sucked a$$. Each time I would brush, a thread or bristle (what ever you want to call it) kept comming out. So i bought a vey nice one from a craft store.
