Exterior StylingGrills, Body Kits and other accessories
i bought it on sunday and i was about to do it but then it said that i had to sand it down a bit so i hesitated on doing it. also it said its flammable and it only resist to a certain number of degrees kinda worried about that 2...so is this safe to use? for those of you who have done it have you had any problems with the paint?
I used the dupli-color kit. Came with brake parts cleaner. Didn't read anything about sanding. Cleaned, taped and brushed it on. I did take the pads and pad clips out, and bolted the calipers back on the bracket so I only had to tape off the rotors. I also took a file to the casting ridge on the side of the caliper. Didn't try to get it totally smooth, just took the point off.
Yeah the brush that comes with the dupli color sucks a$$. The bristles kept comming off. Be sure to use a very good brush. I took off my calipers to paint, so i didnt have a lot of taping to do. Very easy, it has been 2 months since I did it, and still looks good.
I used the Dupli-color paint in Sept. '05 and have touched it up a couple of times due to rock chips and they still look nice. I hit mine with a die grinder to smooth them out and did 3 laps of the car with the paint to get a good coating on the parts. A good soft bristle brush is key to a good finish...
