If there is already a thread on this already someone point me in that direction otherwise can someone give me any advice as to how I remove the badges and side moldings? I know they are held on by 3m adheasive but was just wondering if i just need to "pluck" off or if i should heat them first. Any advice would help me out, I dont wanna screw anything up.
First you'll need one or 2 of these a nice and whatever the heck he may be drinking just to get your mind right! J/K
Click on this link Debadging Although it speaking about removing the letters and emblem, the same technique can be used for your side moldings.... I also think Steve did a video clip of removing the gook under the moldings once they're off.... you pretty much just rub it off slowly but surely and hope that the paint underneath isn't bubbled up like Vinniej's did! Body Side Molding
I know several people have debadged and removed side moldings from their Mags; so I'm sure they'll chime in for some help as well!
Well, after a few and one of I got'em all off.....the badges anyway...and yes the fingers on the right hand are a bit sore. Looks nice but do have some ghosting, I figured I would detail her this weekend and buff'em out. Still a bit nervous about the side moldings, I think I will do them this weekend as well. Courious about the molding though, do I remove them the same way as the badges (fishing line) ?
Ill get some pics up tomorrow, got dark fast this eve....
cool deal! soak the top edge with goo gone and wait a sec (doesnt hurt the paint at all), then start one end with the line, then grab and gently pull the rest of the way. TRY to get it to take as much of the adhesive chit with it (using goo gone, going slow) cause the rest is coming off with your thumb!
