So Welcome to my Thread Mo' Fockies!!!
I got sum questions for ya all abou powder coating and painting rims.
I looking to powder coat/paint my rims at the end of the month, looking to a flat black or high gloss black. My whip is dat Black Metallic.
1) Which is better powder coating rims or paint? (as for as damage and all)
2) I got a price for powder coat $70 a rim from one shop, and another shop $50 for paint. which would you all go for?
3) Which you all think would look better flat black or high gloss.
Thanks for ya's advice in this matter. lol![]()

go for the powder coating all day man..
unless the tires are reverse mounted(from the back) the paint will get damaged while mounting the tires..
powder coating is way more durable to road debris,etc...
i went the poweder coating route was well worth it. If i was doing the whole rim again id again choose powder coating but since im only doing sections on my new rims im gunna paint.

Yo Mo' Rob Fockie, I powder coat, been doing it a while. As such, I will say that I won't paint any wheels. I've seen some awesome painted wheels, normally a very custom or precise color match. But, paint is way more fragile than the pc is. PC being more durable and should be cheaper really, the materials cost so much less, the "labor" is much less and so is the finishing time. I have to remeasure my oven, if its got enough room, I'll be baking my RT wheels when I put the winter wheels (probably steelies) on. Now on the Gloss black issue, I will warn you that if you go this route in PC, make sure you get it clear coated as well. The gloss black will scratch like paint, but touching it up is much more difficult. The clear coat will allow you to touch up the clear if needed (clear is more durable normally as well).
If my oven is not big enough, I will get off my arse and build the oven I've been wanting to the past year or so... too much on the plate has held this project up.
GL.

did mine powder coated and by far the better choice. May cost more but definitely worth it.
