so i want the stock black headlights but its hard to find them and if i dont have to shell out $200 that would be cool too
so is it possible or advisable to open up my stockers and paint all the non reflective parts? im just worried about getting the seal correct so i dont have moisture in there
has it been done? successfully?

Put them in the oven 215 degrees for 15 min brake open make sure to clean the lens of all sealant and the bucket. Use black adhesive sealant and run it along the track of the bucket when ready to re install press firmly us bungee or clips to keep it tight in place and let it sit for 24 hr u will be good

Santi nailed it. My headlights were silver at one time but I painted em black. I used clear silicone to reseal instead. If you use clear, you won't have to bake your headlights again if you decide to reopen in the future. Clear is 100% weather resistant and holds like freakin concrete. I love the stuff.
Just lower it.
Lots of owners have jumped on this mod, its almost a necessity! Halo installation/ Head Light removal 08' Mag This was my very first mod, very simple to do and saves money. GO FOR IT
Hey, I did a write up on this a few years back you can find it here.
How To: Open Up Headlights (Oven Method)
There is some debate on how long to leave it in the oven, and I am sure there are variables, such as gas, electric, how good your oven is. I have opened up about a dozen lights and on my oven the settings I have listed in the write are what work for me. however, start lower, put them in for 15 min and then give them a try. If you go even a little too far your lights are toast. So, go a little easy on the first one and the second one should be a cake walk. Seal them with some silicone when you are all done modding, let them sit and then go back and put on some more silicone!!! I have had water get in on one or two, but it was always the ones I was less liberal with the silicone on. I have one set that I have had on the car for about 3 years, and they are still holding up. Good luck, and it is a rough one to start on!! Results are worth it though!
exactly the response i was hoping for
thanks guys

Youre lights will be sealed better after you do this then before. There are tons of pics on this and links here for reference. It's been one of my favorite mods!
Do it!

I just did this mod, still waiting for the silicone seal to cure so that I can put the head lights back on. I did have one problem tho.... When I pulled off the blue painters tape that I used it pulled off some of the crome finish.
I
Yup. I did mine twice. These instructions are exactly what was done to mine both times. I debated painting mine at one time but decided to leave them chrome. If I would have found black ones for a good price i would have bought them but I didnt wanna mess with painting them. In the end I think the blue halos look better against chrome anyway. Good Luck to ya.
ps.. yay 1500 posts.. hehehe
