Charger Side Moldings Possibility
So I can not take the bubbles anymore. I thought they would be fine after removing, but they are starting to chip and I am freaking the f$%k out. I would hate to regress and just go back to the stock. I posted a thread over on LX wondering if any of the charger guys with removed moldings would sell them to me.
I am wondering if they will even fit the door panel tho. Anyone do this before? I might just head down to the dodge dealership tomorrow with a measuring tape to see. God I do not want to go back to moldings, I freakn hate hate hate hate hate how they make it look. I am depressed over this. Damn it I wish I had the money for a paint job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have rolls of molding that are different styles and colors at Pepboys, check there, autozone, checkers, every car store around where you live and get nice molding you will like on your ride, it's better than going back to stock.
Before you put them on, tape up the side, sand off the bubles and paint the sides so they'll never rust again, and wait a week or so before putting the moldings on so the paint will be 100% dry. Just don't paint wider than the molding will be or it will show. That's what I would do if I had bubbles on mine, I have ghost lines on mine, but they go away after waxing, but re-appear after a few months, so I wax those lines every few months and I wax the whole car once a year with a buffer, usually before the BIG (Henderson days) car show we have here: Las Vegas car shows. |

hmmm, I might take a trip to one of those establishments, but I just love the way the mag looks without. It flows and resembles a vehicle that of the 30's-50's without the moldings. They break up the whole vehicle's panel. I just don't know what to do.
Anyone had great luck with the touch up paint pens.... |

They will stick the moldings back on but they will not fully repair it. If you read the fine print of the warranty this problem is not covered. I went threw a huge thing with dodge and chrysler and nothing was really done. Just an FYI.

I'm planning on removing mine in the summer, and ive got an 05 wish me luck on no bubbles, if there is im gonna keep them on and just go get a custom paint job and let them remove them and fix the problem...
Sorry to hear I hate the side moldings as well, I like that clean look much better as well, hopefully you can get it rectified! I'm scarred now that I heard the 05's are more prone to the issue. |

sorry to hear of your problem with the bubbles. the only thing is the charger moldings are alot thinner then ours. My husband is at work right now or i'd go out and measure them for you. Just a ruff guess... i'd say the charger molding are about 1" maybe even less in thickness.
