MrGrille Billet Grille Nylon tie straps?!
eBay Motors: Dodge Magnum 05 06 06 07 2007 billet grille grill (item 120214236328 end time Jan-29-08 18:04:29 PST)
After reading this description, the grill goes over the existing one with nylon tie straps? I like the grill look but fear it maybe too cheap of a product in the end, anyone else have experience with these tie down replacement grills? ![]() Last edited by B00MER; 01-29-2008 at 05:46 PM.. |

That one I have, and I prefer it hands-down to the other offerings with much larger fin-spacing (I ordered both - sold one). Any/all of these require above average modding skills to achieve a quality and secure attachment to the vehicle. YOu can certianly install them as-is with their hardware, but there are definitely better ways to achieve the same job. Here is how mine turned out after powder coating it black:

I really like that vertical grille on the Mags. I ended up going with a similar horizontal grile because it had the matching two lower scoop pieces. Also I got it at Trader's Village (all 4 pieces for $110). For those who don't know, btw, Trader's village is this huge @$$ swap meet right outside of Arlington, TX. LOTS of good stuff down there and they will negotiate prices with you.

Thank you for the compliments guys, I appreciate it;
Although one does not have to with this product, I indeed removed the horizontal portions of the cross-hair. My conscerns with the supplied mounting regime was that it allowed the grillwork to move. As the grillework actually touches along the periphery in order to be positioned properly, this would eventually create rub-spots on the front fascia. Along with custom supports, I actually used Goop to secure the grille to the front fascia where each of the fins (yes fins - on this grille they manufacturer has just taken aluminum heatsink material and cut it to fit the various openings. The width of the material requires them to piece segemnts together and weld them with tabs) touches the composite fascia. The end-result is that the grille is 100% secured along the entire periphery. If I elect to remove it at some point, I can cut through the various attachment points, and not only remove the grille but also the Goop remants without adversely affecting the paint... |

so mobius. why get rid of the cross bar without the need to? seems pointless to me...unless you had a grille where you actually needed to cut the bar, all youre doing is cutting your resale value if you actually ever do decide to re sell...just curious. all that extra stuff you said you needed was not needed by the way. i have the same grille. not powder coated. no rubbing. everything is fine. just a thought
