Got started on my Halo's
Chapter 1
Today I started on my first headlight separation. I started with 240 deg for 30 minutes and the light was not coming apart. I felt like I was starting to destroy it at that point so I put them back in for another 10 minutes. Still not opening. At this point I waited for reinforcements to come. I had to get my dad to lend a hand with holding the light while I worked on getting it to open up. Even then I had to put it back in for about another 7 minutes. It finally did open up. By this time I'm sweatin' like a 46 year old, 235 pound man. Now cleaning out all of the old factory sealer was even more trying. I eventually had to bust out the hair dryer but I still couldn't get it as clean as I would like it. I even jammed my screwdriver through one area of the troff. All in all just for that it took almost 2 and a half hours. I have stopped for the day for now. The other headlight is in the mail and maybe tomorrow I will work on color matching this one. My Halo kit is hopefully in the mail also. I try and use the "tracking number" but all I continue to get is the response that electronic data has been sent to the post office. That has been for the last 5 days. IMHO it was a royal pain in the ass. My old hands were cramping up the whole time I was trying to clean the sealant out. Chapter 2 to follow later on... I'm not doing the Halos but I through they had the temp at 250 or a little hotter. I saw the ACC video on installing and it looked like I could be a pain but like everything else in modding the more you do the easier it gets. Good Luck and don't lose your cool. It will be worth it in the end.

Mod Gnome says 245 degrees.
If you start at one of the bottom corners (inner or outer) and work from there it's a tad easier to get started. Let the sealant cool and dremel it out since you're going to replace it with new anyway. |

So far so good on my cool, LOL. I still have it so far. Quote:
I think that oven temps vary. On my next one I'm going 250 deg for sure for maybe 30 minutes. I want it to just peel apart (without melting the light of coarse). Now that's a big azz Mod Gnome. No wonder you're the mod king, LOL. |

Hey Dave you gotta use a heat gun to get that old sealant out. Go down to home depot and drop the coin for the heat gun only if you use it once.....that old sealant will just peel right out like a bad caulk job on your bathtub!
