Hood Struts and Lower balls?
Can anyone help me locate some hood struts and lower balls for my 06 RT AWD. The 06's have the damn hood prop-bar and that's just not right for a HEMI.
Also has anyone heard of hoods folding due to changing to the struts? I can't imagine that the 06 hood was made differently (weaker) than the 05's. Any help would be appreciated. Regards, Ant |

Art-tistic, I found mine on Ebay for around 60 bucks. The kit came complete with the lower mounting points and struts. It's a genuine Mopar part so the fit is spot on. Just type in "magnum hood struts" or "dodge magnum hood struts" on your Ebay search and they should come up. The installation is easy as pie. Also, aside from the cheesy prop rod, there is no difference in hood strength between the 05 and 06 models. Hope this helps. Good luck on your search.

Anytime Art. Glad I could help out. I'm kind of an Ebay fiend when it comes to buying things. I couldn't believe Dodge opted for the cheesy hood prop for the 06 over the struts the 05s came with. That, and the warranty were the only differences between the two model years. I couldn't wait to get rid of that thing. I guess it's because the engine is so cool looking. This is the first car I have ever done cleaning in the engine compartment. Go figure.

O.K. It's official. Your way more obsessed than I am. The fact that I dust my Mag "every day" is no where near your cleaning the engine compartment first. HA! Just kidding. It makes complete sense to me. I think I will do it that way from now on.
ps. What type of business do you do? I am also in the art business. Commercial photography to be exact. |

I own and opperate a video production company, we specialize in high-end weddings and events but also do 40% of our business in the corporate market. Training tapes, seminars, instructional videos etc. Our newest and most popuar offering is remote aerial videos and still photos. I truly love what I do but owning your own business can eat up a lot of your free time. What is your specialty?

So if I followed this correctly, the 05 had struts and did not require the prop for the hood whereas the 06 uses a prop only, but the 05 struts will work on the 06 therefore no longer needing the prop? Wow, I hope that makes sense. If this is true then I am going to purchase a set of struts, I hate the props on any car.

I had no idea until now that the 06 had a prop and no struts. Interesting.
My 05 did come with struts. |
