Question for danko grill owners.
For others that have the danko grill and got it molded and color matched...how much did you pay?
I'm trying to see what you all paid and gauge if it would be better for me to do it myself and just have the shop paint the whole fascia. The shops I have been to all said it's too much work for them and they don't want to risk having it crack down the road. I think they just might be lazy. I only ran into one guy that said he can do it no problem and he actually has a bunch of jobs that hes done around here that I have seen...very good work. Only thing is he said it would cost around 650 including paint. Thanks to all for any input. |

I wouldn't mind keeping it black.
My color now is the steel metallic blue I believe. The black grill looks good against the color. But since my fascia is in need of some touch ups and repair anyways, I thought I would throw in the molding to boot. |

Good questions. Well I was going to mold mine in but started thinking. If my car is parked and someone hits the side of my bumper and cracks the whole side, I would be screwed out of the grille because its molded in. SOOOOO I just left it un molded. I got it color matched inferno red which is a tricolor process. I got the whole bumper, grille, and fog bezels painted for 3 bills. OHHHH and a lifetime warranty. He was going to charger me 5 bills to mold it in. So you might want to look around.
The mesh was orginally painted black on mine but I had a wild hair, took it back and now its inferno red. Which was also free of charge. |

So far the way it's looking is I'm gonna get the grill painted a solid black with some coats of clear coat. I might change out the mesh to something with a bit more "hey look at me". And the bumper is gonna get the license plate screw holes filled plus my fog light bezels done in a custom fashion. I might end up doing the fog light bezels myself if I find all the right materials for good prices. So far these are my quotes: Paint grill in black with at least 3 coats of clear - 150 If I fill in the screw holes on the bumper and mold my bezels myself I should be looking at around 80 - 100 in materials or less. To have the whole fascia repainted the same color - 175 So I might just leave it unmolded and get another length of weatherstrip to help close the gap between the grill and the fascia. Fill in the screw holes myself and mold my bezels and just drop the fascia off at the paint shop for about 4 - 5 hours. Either way I'm ultimately not going to mold the grill in. Thanks to everyone who participated. |
