Major Mag Nut
![]() ![]() |
I believe his bubbles lessened over time, but never went away.
I also use the Meguiar's three step process on my Mag to keep it in shape. I waited 9 months before I removed my moldings and there was not any ghosting in the paint. |

This may be a stupid question but are you guys removing this moulding for looks, or is there a known problem when leaving them on? I am just curious if this is a "looks" or preventive problem thing???

I believe its for looks. My car is black and I chose to leave the door strips on as you can't really see them anyway. They have saved my car from dings and such. However, I have removed all other badges except one Magnum badge. I can't say that if I would have thought of removing all of my strips and badges when the car was new I wouldn't have done so. I think it's too late and there will be ghost marks now.

my R/T had the bubbles on all four doors, they're not covered under warranty and all paint claims have to be submitted to DCX directly (one of the owners of our local dodge dealer is a family friend and still no can do). I just ordered new door moldings to the tune of about $220, I hope my SRT doesnt have them!

I've almost removed my molding several times but it's stories like the bubbles that worry me. I figure that since my car and moldings are black and the molding really don't take away from the looks of the car, it's safer, cheaper and even better for the car if I just leave them on.
Plus, as mentioned earlier; I think it's been too long to take them off now. On the down side, it sure would be easier to clean and I wouldn't have to worry about wax spots in the cracks if I could get them off. |

I removed my side moldings without a problem. Just sore fingers from rubbing the glue off! I first did the "goo-gone" thing, that helped along with keeping the side I was working on in the sun. My uncle, who owns an auto-detailing shop, told me to use "quick-solv" on the remaining glue but I found it more difficult because it prevented the glue from sticking to my fingers...anyways, it looks 100% better!
(sorry pics are so small!) |

I removed one of mine today. I have no bubbles, but I do have ghosting. I really don't know how the paint under the moulding is lighter than the paint around it, but that's not the point. I bought my car OCT 04 and it has been exposed to the weather since day one. (regularly waxed with gold class). Is there a way to remove the ghosting, or shoud I just put the moulding back on? I really like the look without. Any Ideas.....
