side molding question.........
I've been comtemplating on whether or not i should take them off, my main concern is having bubbles or something that looks ugly when i take them off, i heard how most ppl take them off as soon as they've gotten the car, but i've had mine for about 5 months now and its an 06, car sits outside alot when at work, and it can get pretty hot down here, anyone have any opinions on whether or not i should be fine?

Hey eXo393928, I just took my moldings off this weekend and it was very easy. I have an 06 R/T that I bought 6 months ago and I too park outside at work. All I did was use a wood chisel (be careful not to scratch the paint) to get it started and then I just pulled slowly. Then I used my fingers to remove the left over adhesive and then used Goo Gone to get the rest of the adhesive off. After that I washed the car and waxed that areas where the molding was. It looks real nice.
Good luck and don't worry, it will look nice. |

Hey I will give you peace of mind. I just bought a used 06 that was originally purchased all the way back in Sept. 05, and I was so nervous of taking off the mouldings and getting ghost lines underneath, but I said the hell with it and I did it yesterday. IT LOOKS AWESOME!!! Just take some fishing line or something with a plastic feel and get the edge of the stripping started enough to get your fingers underneath. Then just slowly pull away from the car. Most of the glue came right with it. It helps to spray GOO GONE at the beginning across the moulding and let it soak in.
After you get them off the glue will come off by simply rolling it along with your thumb. These mouldings were on my Mag for over a year, and I didn't even need to buff out any discoloration. HAVE FUN! |

mine is white
this is one of the easiest mods Ive done to my car. You may notice the lines until you wax it a few times, but like these very knowledgeable fellows have stated make sure you wax when you done. Nakedness is good. My post of My naked girl..... shows some pics, check it out

I used Mequiar's three step process...except I didn't use step one since there are no swirls in the car. I actually started with Mother's clay bar which gets all the tiny dirt particales off and makes the car as smooth as a babys butt. Then I used Mequiar's step two Polish which conditions the paint before wax, then finally I used Mequiare's Gold Liquid Gold. A lot of work (about 5 hours total) but WOW, what a shine. I will try to get some pics posted.
