Tinting Tail Lights

Can anyone help me by telling me how they tinted their tail lights? Using paint or film b/c I like the stock tails I just want them a little darker.

It is actually quite easy. Search on ebay for a product called VHT Nightshade or niteshades. One can should be enough, I managed to get 3 coats on each taillight and still have some left over. You should also get some fine grit sandpaper - 1000 or 1500 grit. I would also recommend a good clear coat from your local automotive body supply store. I have one in town that sells a 2 part clear in a spray can. There is a button you push in on the bottom that releases the catalyst and you have 24 hours to use the can. After that it is no good. It is expensive, around $25 a can, but protects the tint and gives it a nice gloss finish. One day I will put together a write up with pics.

i took my car to a body shop and they did the headlights and taillights for about 200$ they came out pretty nice. you can see the lights through the tints too so that wont be a problem at all.

Steve, your tail lights are awesome and I really apreciate your help!.....Do you know the name of that 2 part clear you used and did you have to buff them after all that?

Drinkmetrx...from what I can see of your tail lights they look pretty good as well. Although,I would like to see an upclose or bigger pic.

I have a pic at home. I will post it tonight when I get home. I didn't buff them, I do need to wet sand them and reshoot the clear. I have a run in one of the lights and the other light has some crystals in it that looks like maybe I forgot to clean the nozzle before the last coat.

I used the tint spray can on my Daughter's Interped, I did both sides and the center piece on the trunk and it all came out perfect. I would never have imagined that it would have come out as nice as it did. The key is taking them out of the car, cleaning and sanding them as per the directions. I did them over a year now and they still look perfect. I am now going to do the tailights on the Magnum the same way.
