Question to anyone who tinted their tails
I have a question for anyone who spray tinted their tail lights. I'm wondering how far the visibility of the tinted lights is and how many coats of spray tint did you use?
I'm asking this because I want to tint my tails instead of buying the ones off of ebay for now and laws in Nevada are that they must be visible at a distance of 300 ft in sunlight and I don't want to go too dark. |

technically it's illegal to tamper with the tails but i tinted mine and used about 4 Light coats and that was just perfect! Try not to go any more than 4 otherwise you may encounter law issues :\ can't wait to see them when they're done!!

One thing that I did for someone that was super worried wuz leave the reflector untouched so it showz red (DOT) approved and smoked the lungz out of the rezt of the taillightz (DARK). On top of that, in the sunlight and az well az night time you still have that bright azz LED third brake light!!!!! If the copz want to mess with U modded or un-modded, it iz gonna happen.....

Yeah the Cops around here are pretty cool and I know a few of them, I've actually checked the revised statutes for Nevada and that was the one thing that was needed for the lights.
Really I just don't want to tint and then be told shortly thereafter that I need to replace them. Well I'm also going to be calling my local police and see what they say, just to be safe. |

Here man, Tinted tails installed finally!!!
I did a couple of threads on tinting my tails, I have been riding all over with out a second look from John Law, and quite frankly, mine really look like they are stock, the only time I really notice it is when I park by another mag that has stockers, I did 4 coats and there are cars out there that have stock lights that are darker. I think it is more that our stocks are WAY too red, a little tint ain't gonna hurt and as long as you use the VHT the light shines through no prop. |

I hope I do not jinx myself, but I put the GTS smoked covers on (Thanks Blessed Motorsports) about a week ago and I have not been pulled. Again, knock on wood, no issues here in Va.
I am going to bump up the intestity of the bulbs to hopefully offset any issues and even though it is a pain, I pull them off at night. JB |
