GEARS coming soon?
Don't ask about gears here, nobody seems to care much for them. I'm waiting to see real world track and daily driving test results first before deciding, plus I want an affordable LSD, so we'll have to wait and see. That's why I check CMJ on LXF every day to see if anything new comes up. Last edited by 05 MAG RT; 09-01-2008 at 05:57 AM.. |

i wanted 3.42 gears. these are not the best choice for everyone. we all don't have the same combination. the 3.55 gears are too much for my setup. i will get the 3.23 gears when they are available. this will be a big improvement in accelleration over the 2.82 gears at the cost of MPG.

You might be surprised with lower gears, I know that I was. When I bought gears for my 96' Impala SS, I wanted 3:42 gears - they were on backorder,
So I went with 3:73 gears - glad I did. My gas mileage didn't drop all that much, top speed of the car stayed the same (145 MPH). I think the 3:23 gears coming out for our cars will be okay, but I would still prefer some 3:42 gears. Bob |

I almost got 3.73 for my 95SS, but I sold it before I had the chance, we'll see what happens with LX cars, read my link about gears in post 2, I just found out some info about LSD's

I don't know what would be best for me on an AWD. I put 411 in 1 of my Camaros , great off the line but not so hot on the open road.So what would be good for AWD ? This is great news for us the boats can use a push .

the awd magnum uses the 6 cylinder gears. these are available from the factory in a few different sizes like 3.64 and 3.91. the main problem would be programming for these sizes. if the predator has these gear sizes, then it would be an easy swap in the AWD.
the RWD r/t's 210 gears are too big for the AWD magnums |

I replaced the factory 3:90 gears in my 63' Plymouth 426 Max Wedge with 4:56 gears - now that car was a BEAST! LOL
Top speed was 120 MPH, but it did it in 1/4 mile.................... With the auto trans, you could actually watch the gas gauge move when you drove it on the highway, it got 3 MPG. But got 5 MPG in the city. OUCH !! The good old days, when gas was cheap. Bob |

120 mph 1/4 mile 5 MPG city God damn! I think you caused global warming all by yourself, see what you did! I mainly want gears to kick ass at the track, since I'll never be able to afford a supercharger, so I'm thinking 3.55, but I'll wait for real world test results first, and I have to wait for next year tax refund to afford it anyway, so I have 6 months of waiting time before it happens for me. BTW: I drive 95% city, so 3.55 gears might be ok, and it will kick ass at the lights, to beat ricers... SRT8's????? we'll see. I also want a damn LSD that doesn't cost almost 2 G's.
