Should I keep my R/T?

Hey everyone, I've been MIA from the forum I'm in the process of moving to Atlanta from MD. But I'm pretty much finished with the magnum, I'm going to get her painted once I get to Atlanta, then I was thinking about selling her to get an SRT8 with probably higher miles. Whatever I sell the R/T for is what I was going to use for the SRT8. A buddy of mine owns a dealership and can get them pretty cheap, he said I'd be looking at about 17-18K for an 06 with about 30-40K on it. Should I do it? Or just keep my low miled R/T and get an SRT8 later.

Why not just keep what you have? You've put work into it so hold onto it for a little while.

You know, honestly, I just have this need for speed. That's it. I want the power and I want the seats. I could sit here and try to justify the reason, lol, but that's really it.

Well, I think I can solve your problem... You could just give me the R/T and then you'd be free to get ur SRT!

Okay, I'm just kidding around, but really...think about it. LOL.

So if you were to get an SRT, you would have one of the more rare, of the already now 'endangered' species, that the magnum has become. Not to mention, the obvious power increase that you would get from the exchange, AND the styling difference of the attractive higher muscled wagon. However, if you were to keep the R/T, you would be more likely to get higher gas mileage, you still have lower miles on ur mag than what would be on the SRT that you would get, and all the hard work, elbow grease and money you've put into your baby won't be given to someone that wouldn't be able to fully appreciate it.

Well there's my take anywho

sounds like you've made up your mind?

How often do you use that speed? How much better is the performance than the RT? is it worth losing everything you've done and dumping money into another one?

I had a piss ant 2.5l in my lifted jeep and couldn't go more than 55 on the highway if there was any incline or wind, but never wanted to get a 6cyl because off road where it counts I could follow any 6cyl.

I dunno, in my opinion I try to make due with what I have. Just make your R/T faster than an SRT, that's more impressive and it's something worth talking about than just buying a fast one.

Both of you make good points. I don't really care about the work I put into it. In my heart it really wasn't what I wanted, it was actually more WORK than anything. But it did turn out great. MagWag did NOT help either lol, your reasons all point to srt. And that's my thing, it WILL be rare, more rare than an Rt and i HATE not being original. Every car we own except for this r/t magnum is pretty rare. BUT I was considering just having two because I drive A LOT. and i've already put 5K on this magnum in 8 weeks! I don't want to have a poop load of miles on an srt. ohhh decisions decisions... If i can sell the R/T for 2 grand more than i get an SRT for, than the gas mileage is already made up for. I already have the diablo, and I was going to do intake and exhaust to the r/t so that's money I would jsut dish toward the srt.

Finally, Marneaus, you struck another part of me, I hate being wasteful. I don't NEED an srt8, i just want one. THis does the job fine, and actually probably better because if the dog scratched the srt8 seats i'd be PISSED. i don't care in the R/T it's the family mobile. And i could make it faster, but then I think, what if i put those same mods on an srt8!? I'd REALLY be smokin then! What to do!?

i think it comes down to a need and want. when i got my mag i had a chance to get a rt(i have a sxt) but i needed something good on gas and room for the new baby. im very happy with my choice for the most, im not going to lie to you there are times when i wish i got the rt but at the end of the day i feel i made the right choice. NEED AND WANT

Save your R/T and money. Then buy the srt-8 from your bro. then you got 2 !

Yeah... (I should be packing) but you guys make all good points... all points I've ran through my mind already. But you know, I think I'll keep the R/T, I'm trying to teach my fiance discipline and what not, so unless someone offers me 18-20K for my R/T I'll just keep it. (then I'd MAKE money and have an srt8 at the same time!) Thank you guys for your support on that. (still gonna pray I get 18-20K for it though) lol, don't be surprised if you see it on craigslist!
