I think I made a poor choice
Ever since I got it back to Vegas, I have been feeling very unhappy about my magnum.
I figured hell, for the price my mom sold it to me (less than half book value) it'd be an awesome car then reluctantly sold the jeep. Well, now I'm realizing I may have made a mistake. I bought a station wagon that bottoms out on speed bumps, gets 16mpg, and was beat to shit by my parents (paint is awful, scratched beyond belief, many little dings all around it, front bumper chipped to hell, glass all pitted and scratched). I don't know whether this is just second thoughts or if I made a huge mistake. Don't get me wrong, the magnum is a nice car, I see how it could be fun to own for pretty much anyone, but I don't know why I feel this way about it. Maybe it'll grow on me, maybe it'll grow worse. I don't know. All I know is every time I see it I miss my jeep, and ask myself if I've made the wrong choice for the wrong reason. Flame suit is on.... There probably isn't a perfect car for everything. Every choice has good and bad. My 2 main vehicles (Mag and BMW 323i) are polar opposites. Mag is much more comfortable to drive, but the BMW Handles 100 times better. The Mag walks away from the BMW though. Mag gets half the mileage the BMW does. I guess a lot depends on what you need and where you are in life as to what works best. I have a beater Ranger for my off road needs, maybe look into a older Jeep to play with. Do what makes you happy. If your not feeling the Mag, do what you need to do to keep yourself happy.

And also when a deal look's too good to be true, but is true, you jump on it. I jumped on the wrong deal. Thought I'd get something good out of it. Like I said, 90% of people would probably be ecstatic to have this car... and I honestly feel bad about not liking it. Makes me feel really selfish... |

Maybe I just have the wrong mindset. Let's look at some modifications I could do to it. Rims: Anything bigger than stock will degrade performance. worse acceleration and worse braking. Why would I do that to a car that's supposed to be fast? Function over form. Exhaust: K, could be nice, I've wanted an exhaust system since before I even bought the car, but I dont want it to sound like crap. Hmm, about a grand for a zoomers cat-back? 1000 dollars for sound? I could buy a lot of gas for 1000 bucks. Also, a lot of food and a lot of insurance payments. Intake: K, performance gains. Worthwhile, for sure. But, even if it gave me 10 hp, which i'm skeptical about, that's not a difference I'd even be able to feel. Might sound a little different, but then again, 300 bucks...thats a month's car payment and insurance. Body styling: lip? looks good, gonna get ripped off and lowers the car. Remove moldings? tried, had bubbles and fucked up my paint hardcore when I tried to fix a repainted spot. Also, they don't do anyhting, just look nice. As for the jeep? easy. Tires. Look great and offer tremendous performance gains off road. Lift? Looks good, better clearance off road and bigger tired even furthering this performance gain. Exhaust? Old muffler was rotted out, 100bucks for a flowmaster. done. Bumpers? Need something to winch onto, and gotta survive rock hits. Everything I did to it had a utilitarian purpose. I don't know why this is such a hang up for me, everyone's car on here looks so great.... |

CMOM FOR DEC 08
![]() ![]() |
I just bought a used magnum for my wife and it's sure NOT perfect. Took it to the dealer for a check up and about 15 error codes... who cares as long as it drives great! A few dents, I'd rather not have and some stains on the seats, that really bother me! They even backed into something and the rear bumper had some dents; sanded myself and repainted myself and I'm no body man! But, HEY... it's used by someone who doesn't care for it like we would!!! My wife has a Scion XB that she loved; gets almost 30 MPG in town and 35 HWY but she'd rather drive the magnum! As long as she LOVES it everything ELSE means nothing! (I think EVERYONE on here has a vehicle that they would give anything to have it back... for me it was my 1968 Z/28 camaro) Best car I have ever owned.... BY FAR!!!
HOPES THIS SCENARIO HELPS YOU ENJOY YOUR MAG AS MUCH AS WE DO OURS!!! |

Not good to have a car you don't like. Sell it.
