Yes the 05 does have a factory amp that needs to be bipassed in order to run a new amp/headuit/any audio really. I think if i can recall correctly its inside/under the driverside dash. I only feintly remember this from when i originally did my Audio. But the Pot has surely kept me from remembering exactyl =P but im sure someone on here will be able to give you the exact location.
Hey, i had an amp installed when i installed a DVD head unit and a subwoofer and by using a module i was able to keep the factory amp and use it for the remaining speakers...Hope this helps!
The factory amp should be under the driverside dash with two downward facing plugs, right next to the e-brake, all four speakers are in one plug and the factory mids on the dash are in the other along with the signal wires from the radio.
I just looked to see if i have one of those plugs under my dash..I do have a plug but only one and there is nothing plugged into it.Not sure if it is an amp plug or for the mechanics to plug into for diagnostic purposes??
Three months late but here is the drawing. It's under the panel below the drivers foot area.
Oh yeah, if you have the base 4 speaker system, there isnt an amp.
