Srt8 Rims Issues

MY O6 SRT8 MAG HAS HAD TWO RIMS REPLACED BY THE DEALER FOR THE CLEAR COAT PEELING OFF. NOW, I HAVE TWO MORE PEELING AND THE DEALER IS REPLACING THEM. THANK GOD IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I DO NOT USE ANY CHEMICALS ON THE RIMS FOR CLEANING JUST CAR WASH. SO I TRIED TO CALL DODGE TO TALK TO THEM ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT THE GUY IN INDIA HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. IF YOU HAVE SRT RIMS CHECK AROUND THE OUTSIDE OF THE RIM WHERE THE TIRE AND RIM MEET. THAT IS WHERE IT STARTS.

I haven't noticed this problem on my 06 SRT yet... and hope I don't; however, I only have 4217 miles on mine and it's garage kept! I hope this will keep mine in GREAT shape! Sounds like your dealer has been very good to you... mine don't wanna help with ANYTHING!!!

Silver6.1L is just warmin' up!
I haven't noticed if my clear coat is coming off, but I have noticed some pits and chips in the silver paint, I only have 7500 miles on mine. I was going to wait till they are really bad and just paint over the silver with black and leave the high polished face.........Too much to do and no time.

I see that you reside in the north-east. Could the issue be caused by the road salts and/or chemicals used for snow clearance? It would seem that the edge of the rim, next to the tire, that high concentrations of icy, salty water could collect.

If you've had new tires installed, it would only take a small chip, made by he mounting machine to allow corrosive water to get under the finish...

Just a thought

I Put The Mag Away For The Winter. It Has Not Seen Snow, Ice Or The Horrible Salt The Put On The Road. The Car Has Summer Tires Which Are A Very Soft Composite. When The Weather Gets Really Cold, Below Freezing, It Is Like Driving On Plastic Wheels. Touch The Gas And The "esp" (electronic Stability Program) System Goes Crazy. I Got A Cool Old Truck For The Crappy New England Weather.
