I've been a member for some time now but have not really posted. Anyway, I need help. I took my car to the dealership with a strange ticking noise almost like a blown engine. Well long story short after bout a week and a half they say they have to replace the rocker arms on left side. OK. Now I've had the car back for about 3 days and now I notice a new sound. The car makes a strange loud tick or click when running and after running. The sound is not like the car is settling after being in motion it's like someone taking a hammer and tapping on a hollow metal container. I've tried to have the car tick on demand but I cannot. I've not yet taken the car back to the dealership or to another mechanic. I am looking for any suggestions as to what you guys think it may be.
hello i had a noise in my engine on the left side it sounded like a tap than after about 100 miles it souned like the engine let go i opened the engine and found that a roller backed out and stopped rolling it started cutting and rounded a cam shaft lobe i took pictures and took the car to the dealer after 3 weeks talking to them 3 to 4 times a day they repaired my engine they did not want to fix it they told me i had to many mods done to the car i said ok tell me how any of my mods took out an inturnal engine part and i would leave they could not and did fix my car they had to remove the head to replace the cams they also told me mine was the only car this happened to i told them i did not think so any way i would take the car to tech that you trust and let them take a good look at what was done
Your description is exactly what i'm hearing. It's coming from the left side. I'm gonna run her back to the dealer ASAP. Hopefully they won't hold her hostage this time. Thanks for the info.
Well sorry to have held everyone in suspense, but the mystery of the after shutting off the engine tick has been solved. After $400 spent at the stealership (saw this somewhere thought I'd borrow it) and having them tell me several times that it was "normal", that it was the catalytic converter giving off heat. I couldn't take it any longer I took it to the best mechanic I could find and lo and behold somehow there was a loosened bolt in or around the heat shield on the left side. How the bolt was loosened I don't know but what I do know is that it was not loose until the dealership "fixed" the other problem.
So if anyone is in SoCal, Inland Empire I advise to stay away from Frahm Dodge in Norco. Their service department is awful especially SKI, he will not call when he says he will and tries to hurry you through and at least in my experience doesn't always get every detail of the problem.
Yes, I know Jerry Chang, I talked to him when I bought my car. I can't really say to much about Jerry, he seems to be a good guy at least with me he was cool. The only complaint I have with him is that when I traded my suburban he was trying to have me leave my dvd, and stereo parts that I paid 3K for and only give me $500 more on my trade.
I'm with you on that I feel that way to, sometimes I think I overpaid dramatically, especially now that I've had to deal with the 'dis'service department. I don't even go there for the complimentary oil change anymore for fear that something else will be loosened mysteriously.
