Does anyone know if it is possible to convert my '05 mag with the standard key that is the size of tennis raquet to the new "smart key" setup that the '08 mags come with? Can the ignition be swapped out or is it just bonkers to attempt? I can't be the only one that hates the ridiculous keys that we are forced to carry. Congrats dodge on yet another cockup!
Here is apparently the process to install it... and the only one I can think of from the factory that has push button start is the 2010 Challenger SRT.....

2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara "Michelle" -bought 1/24/11.... Traded 10/7/11 (damn gas prices)
2012 Fiat 500 Sport "Christina"- bought 10/7/11
it doesn't sounds like he is asking about converting from the standard ignition to the keylessGo push start setup.
but, it may be possible to switch everything over from the older style ignition to the new WIN (wireless ignition node) module. you will also need to change out the shifter assembly because the older style ignition uses a cable from the shifter to the ignition to disable the ignition if in gear. the WIN module uses an electrical switch.
if you could change out all of the hardware for the conversion, there would still be programming to add the WIN module. and if you get that conversion completed, then you could begin to think about adding keylessGo.

Adding Keyless Go would be another headache in itself, cause the factory system is soo temporamental, that quite a few Chally owners and such stopped using the push buttons so that they remember their keys.... It was offered in limited number on '08 & Up Daytona's, SRT8 Chargers,& SRT8 300's as well, but alot of newer owners opted not to check the option on the sheet, or never installed the button if they had one... Oh and if you are a V6 owner wanting to convert to Keyless Go, forget it cause the System is apparently programmed for V8's only...
You might be able to convert to one of these
