Just found out the hard way...

The oil filter on my '08 Magnum is not the same as the rest of the LX cars. I don't know if it's specific to the Magnum's now, or an AWD, or even just the R/T.

As an AmSoil dealer, they didn't have a listing for the oil filters of an '08 Magnum R/T. So in looking back at different years, models, SRT's, they ALL have the exact same oil filter. Hell, it's the same oil filter as my truck for that matter, and it's an '03! So I felt ok to assume that the oil filter will be the same for my '08 R/T... right?

Nope! The size is the same, but the hole the mount screws into is bigger on the '08. So I had to run to AutoZone being after 6pm (service dept's closed) and hope they had a listing. Looked in the books.... nope, asked at the counter... ONE filter they have works. A Bosch 3410. No other brand, no cross-referancing. I DID however cross-referance with '07 and before Magnums, and they're all the same, '07 R/T, '07 SRT, and yes, even my Ram was a Bosch 3402.

So being I had the R/T sitting over the pit drained of oil less a filter, I had to get it. Works. Not the oil filter I wanted to use exactly, but I'll just change it earlier than expected.

So just a fore-warning, if you can't find a listing for yer '08 Magnum, do NOT assume it's the same as the '07 and before LX's.

Up side is, now I don't have to get a filter for the truck, lol. 1 for the SRT, and 1 for the Ram.

Thanks for the info, that could save someone alot of hassle in the future! I wonder why they would do that...Just change it all of a sudden?

that sucks. good info to know though. your autozone closes the service desk @ 6:00??? never heard of that before. that must suck! do you not have any 24hour ones?

He actually said he went to Autozone because the Service department at the dealer closed at 6. lol
