Interior transformation

All are painted to color match the car. Hope you all like it.

Started by testing my painting skills on the washer cap.

I masked off the letters and painted. When I was done I peeled it off and went over it with a sharpie and the put 4 coats of clear on it.

After that I pulled out the gauge rings, ignition ring, radio bezel, and ashtray cover. Cleaned them with soap and rubbing alcohol.

Then I put on 2 coats of adhesion promoter, 4 light coats of paint, and 3 light coats of clear then 1 heavy coat of clear. It took about 2 days.

Finally I wiped them down and put on some Turtle wax Ice then 2 coats of Ice detailer spray and installed.

Well there it is. Next weekend I will be painting the fuse box cover and maybe the radiator shield(its going to say magnum on each side and the letters will taper with the contours of the shield). When I get another long weekend I will take out the sides of the center console and paint them the same color.

Also I'm debating on where or not to paint the radio knobs and the A/C knobs. So any input would be appreciated.

I like it! I've been wanting to do that since day one! I like that you did the ignition part too. IMO I would leave the knobs as-is...

Looks great-- keep it up! I wouldn't try painting the knobs-- you can go to BilletTechnology and get some polished or anodized knobs that would look great.

I plan to go and buy the knobs when I get the money but until then I thought that I would just paint them. I also think that i will mask off the sides of the ashtray like this.

The controls are such a high use area I would be concerned with chipping/scratching. I'd end up spending more time retouching the paint than I would anything else-LOL.

Thats my only fear about the ingnition ring is that I will scratching it with my key. I put 4 coats of clear and waxed the hell out of it, I'm hoping it wont get scratched up to bad.
