    Console mod help...

As some of you know, I recently "finished" a mod to my console cover...

A couple of folks mentioned that it looked kind of odd, with the cover having a slightly curved top and the insert being flat... I agree and thought I had a solution.

The wood panel is thin, less than 1/8", but it's made of furniture grade ply and a mahogany veneer, so steam bending it is a no go.

The panel is somewhat flexible and I used two large patches of industrial grade Velcro to put it in place. It looked much better, it followed the arc, but eventually pulled up at the ends.

Originally, I wanted to have the panel removable for cleaning, now I just want it to stay put, flexed...

Now to my question, does anyone know of an adhesive that will hold this panel in place and not destroy the underlying leather/foam. I could use some nice button head bolts, but that's a last resort.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated...

Thanks all... I'm gonna work my way through all of your suggestions til I find one that works... worse case, I'll have to use the button heads.

    Waldo,
I'd use some countersunk flat heads instead, allenhead of course....That way it's still flat on top and you don't rub on the buttonheads....Try and find some stainless ones to match the shiney parts...

Well, I tried all the adhesives folks thought of, without luck. I ended up using button head screws and they actually look kinda nice. I couldn't use a flat head allen, as was suggested, because the panel was too thin to countersink, sooo...

It follows the curvature of the console cover now and looks much better than just stuck on top.

    Thanks for everyones ideas
