Painted Center Bezel?

So I painted some eyebrows on Maggie this week and I got the bug. . . . .NOOOOOO!! So I was cruising around town today(taking care of some errands(Lacey, WA Target to get baby diapers and some other junk) and I was wondering if anyone has painted the center console bezel(the one that holds the radio, climate controls, etc) to match with the exterior body color? I have the factory bezel(the one with the x pattern on it) and was wondering if they make a smooth one that is just primed and ready to be painted or will I have to fill the x pattern in with fiber resin or something like that? I checked out CarId, but they don't really have anything like that. If anyone has some pics of this done or has any suggestions, let me know!!

If you want it smooth you can sand it out. Then use some glaze putty sand an prime then paint. Pretty easy to do.

They do make a smooth one, it comes silver. I got mine at the dealership but they come up for sell on here every now and then.

My 07 SXT came with a smooth silver bezel. I painted it black tho.

Thanks broski's for the info!!! I will put a posting up for someone selling a SXT center console bezel. . . .the dealership wants like $150.00 for one. . . . .no freaking way am I paying that for something I'm going to sand down and paint!!

Exactly!!! I'm going to do the gauges next week and then once I track down a SXT bezel then I will be doing that. . . .not sure how far down I will go. . . .probably all the black plastic stuff in the center and leave the chrome chrome. . .but who knows, cause I GOT THE MADNESS NOW . . . .not sure what the popcorn dude is for, but oh well!!!

The paint that I used for this was that Duplicolor Metalcast. The one that has the anodized looking lids. You spray that stuff on a chrome piece and it will look anodized! If you go heavy on the last few coats you get the color of dash trim. I'm eventually getting around to the rest of it, everything black on that console is gonna be red. Another idea for your chrome stuff, is Sharpie. The "blade" of the lightsaber shifter is just sharpie over the stock chrome stick.

That Mod Bug gets you fast! Before you know it, you'll be coming up with all kinds of ideas. The hardest part is deciding what to do first.

I don't think it's specifically a SXT bezel tho. I've seen SEs, SXTs and RTs with the textured bezel. I've even see other 07 SXTs with textured bezels. I don't know if there's any rhyme or reason to which Magnum got which, but I've never seen a SE with a smooth one. MoparSuperCenter had silver ones for a minute, but they were like $150. It's a one time cost, I'd say break down and buy the thing if you have the cash.

Mine was Black, I painted it Silver. Kept the texture though, came out looking great. Might have pics somewhere, but that was a long time ago.
