For the past month I have been trying to figure out how and where I want to put my switches for my interrior LED's and my CCT's. My buddy came out the other night and suggested fiberglass something in the ashtray so off to Walmart I went to get some resin, fiberglass, and a small can of bondo (ohh yeah and alot of sand papper). This is my first time at trying to make anything from scratch so honestly let me know what yall think.
First I wrapped the ashtray with plastic wrap from the kitchen and then with a piece of an old T-shirt ~
First coat of resin on shirt ~
I just used 2 small pieces of fiberglass and after it dried had to break out the dremmel and the cutting discs to get it off the ashtray. (for those of you that might try this be sure to only use 1 piece of fiberglass only because after you put a layer of bondo on it will cut down on some sanding depending on which switches you use) ~

After a small layer of bondo and ALOT of sanding I had to test out the fit. Im almost there~

Time to drill the holes and add a little something to the back of the plate to keep it from sliding off. I just took a small piece of fiberglass and used a little resin as the glue.... Oh yeah, and ALOT more sanding ~

Have I mentioned how much sanding I've done at this point? Primed and painted a black metalic!!
